Residence Hall Renovation Projects
The Department of Residential Life continues to provide improvements and upgrades to the Residential facilities on campus. We make every effort to complete these projects during the lowest times of occupancy so that fewer residents are affected and to meet deadlines for when students return. Please use the information provided below as to upgrades, improvements and news related to ongoing work done in our residential facilities. This page will be updated for new projects or problems that may arise to keep the community updated on what Residential Life staff are doing to resolve problems and/or improve our facilities.
Current Renovation Projects
- Window Replacement
Work Description: Every window will be replaced in Hale, Ellsworth and McMahon
Timeline: September 4, 2007 - November 30, 2007
- Fire Alarm Upgrade
Timeline: In progress
Work Description: New fire alarm system in West Campus and Graduate Residences will give the Fire Department a more accurate location of the potential fire and provide residents with a more modern alarm system
- Fire Alarm Upgrade
Timeline: In progress
Work Description: Basic upgrades to South Campus fire alarms
- Sidewalk Code Modifications
Timeline: In progress
Work Description: Sidewalk and stairwell code modifications in Hilltop Apartments
- Shower Renovation
Timeline: In progress
Work Description: Northwest, second floor bathroom shower areas are being renovated to stop leaks to the ground floor
- Summer Safety Inspection
Timeline: All concerns are to be addressed before students arrive for the Fall semester
Work Description: A review was completed indicating a number of code violations including doors not latching, missing exit signs, missing handrails and emergency lighting concerns.
- Exterior Signage
Timeline: In progress
Work Description: As part of the 125th UConn birthday celebration some buildings were renamed and new signage was installed
