The Northwood Apartments complex is located on Northwood Road, just off of North Eagleville Road on the western perimeter of the University of Connecticut campus. The complex consists of 94 apartment units, a laundry room, a community room and a mail area.
Units have two bedrooms, a single bath, a living room, and a kitchen. Hot water, heat, electricity, basic cable, maintenance services, trash and snow removal services are provided. In apartments designated for single undergraduate and graduate residents, internet is provided by the University through Charter Communications. Parking: Residents must purchase a University parking decal, available from Parking Services and will be subject to all rules and regulations of Parking Services (please see http://park.uconn.edu/ for more information).
Some units are designated family units and other units are apartments that house two graduate students or three undergraduate students.
Unit Details:
- Undergraduate Student Apartments (Non-Family Units):
Each undergraduate Northwood Apartment has one single occupancy bedroom, and one double occupancy bedroom. These apartments are fully furnished and feature a kitchen and small dining area, living room, and a bathroom. Beds are XL twin.
- Graduate Student Apartments (Non-Family Units):
Each graduate Northwood Apartment has two single occupancy bedrooms. These apartments are fully furnished and feature a kitchen and small dining area, living room, and a bathroom. Beds are XL twin.
- Family Units:
Family Units not furnished, but do feature two bedrooms, a kitchen, small dining area, living room and a bathroom.
Family Unit Eligibility:
Applications for Northwood Family Housing are available by request in Residential Life, 2nd floor, Wilbur Cross Building. Applications for family housing are being accepted only from newly admitted UConn undergraduate and graduate students that are currently in their first or second semester at UConn.
- Undergraduate Students: Full-time undergraduate students who are married (living with spouse) or a single parent that is enrolled as an undergraduate student with children under his/her legal care.
- Graduate Students: Full-time graduate students who are married (living with a spouse) or a single parent that is enrolled as a graduate student with children under his/her legal care. A minimum of half-time graduate assistantship must be in effect during the entire term of occupancy.
- Only the family members noted on the housing contract signature form are permitted to live in the apartment. Please be aware that having others live in the apartment is a violation of the contract and can lead to termination of your housing contract agreement.
Dependent Status Verification
Verification of Partnership: If students residing in Family Housing do not have dependent children, they must provide documentation of their partnership via one of the following methods:
- Government-issued documentation of marriage
- Government-issued documentation of domestic partnership
- Government-issued documentation of civil union
- Completed State of Connecticut Domestic Partner Affidavit, available at http://www.hr.uconn.edu/forms.html
Documentation of Dependent Child(ren): One of the following forms of identification must be provided for each dependent child residing in Family Housing:
- Birth certificate
- Proof of legal guardianship
