Housing Placement Information for New UConn Storrs Students

Getting ready for UConn? Here's what you need to know: Assignment information will be available in MyHousing in early August. Relationships: Students who live on-campus have convenient access to all the resources offered by the University, including academic support, recreational activities, and opportunities for involvement! First Contact: Once your assignment is posted, we strongly encourage students to contact your roommate(s). It is important to remain open minded about your roommate(s). It takes a while to get to know someone and information posted on social media is not always an accurate representation of a person. Roommates: Roommate pairings are based on the personal preference information on the housing applications. New students and current students live near each other, often on the same floor. Housing Services was able to honor mutual roommate requests that were submitted before the roommate pairing deadline. Co-Ed vs. Single Sex: Most of our residential areas are co-ed and students are placed into a room with a person of the same legal gender. Not all students who requested single-gender housing were assigned to that type of accommodation. Floor bathrooms are designated by gender and all co-ed floors have two separate bathroom facilities.

Storrs newly admitted students who wish to request an assignment change will have the ability to apply in MyHousing and participate in a small room change opportunity in early August.
