Student Jobs

Residential Life employs nearly 200 student staff members throughout our department in various positions. Student staff members play a pivotal role in our department and are a vital resource for many members of the campus community.

Student Position Requirements

  • Must have Federal Work Study Award.  You can contact the Office of Financial Aid for information on Federal Work Study awards.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate a computer and phone.
  • Basic or enhanced computer skills (Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite, etc.).
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently.

Available Student Positions

Resident Assistant (RA)
Directly supervised by a Residence Hall Director, or Assistant Residence Hall Director, the Resident Assistant (RA) is a peer educator who is responsible for an area of approximately 30-75 resident students. The scope of responsibilities vary depending on the assignment. Learn More »

Student Supervising Assistant (SSA)
Assists in the daily operations of an office under the supervision of a Hall Director. Provides additional support to supervisor. Interacts with students, staff, on and off-campus constituents. Represents the office and department.

Office Assistant (OA)
Assists in the daily operations of an office under the supervision of a Hall. Interacts with students, staff, on and off-campus constituents. Represents the office and department.

Gameroom Monitor
Supervised by a Hall Director, the Gameroom Monitor provides assistance in student and public access areas (game rooms or study halls).

Service Desk Assistant
Student staff at the Service Desk are the front line of communication for the Department of Residential Life, answering phone calls, walk-in questions and management of keys for Residential spaces. Preference is given to students with a Federal Work Study Award, but is not required for this position.

EcoCaptains
EcoCaptains serve as paid sustainability champions and ambassadors for the Office of Sustainability. In collaboration with ResLife, this program allows for EcoCaptains to lead sustainability related programming and educational activities in their residence halls.
