Check-In and Arrival

We are excited to have you living on-campus at UConn! Specific arrival information for August arrival days is posted by campus area. For students arriving after the start of classes, check in will be located in the Residential Life office (Whitney Hall, East Campus) between 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday.  For students planning to arrive outside of these hours, please email livingoncampus@uconn.edu in advance for arrival accommodations.

Spring 2024 move-in dates and arrival information will be posted during the fall semester.  Students and families will receive email communication in the coming months about December move-out and January move-in information.

Starting Saturday January 13 starting at 7:00am

  • All students returning to their same room as the fall semester can begin to arrive back at 7:00am for the spring semester.  Students will have to complete a self-check-in process in their My Housing in order to gain access to the residence halls.

Sunday January 14 from 10:00am to 4:00pm

  • All students that are going to a new room for the spring semester (Mid-Year Room Changes, New to campus housing students) will go to the Charter Oak Community Center to pick up their keys and be checked in.  From there students will proceed to their Residence Hall to move in.

Fall Early Arrival Move-In

If living on-campus for the Summer until August 18 and living on-campus for the Fall 2023 semester you will receive an email in early August with transition instructions

If part of an approved group to arrive early, you will receive an email on how to check-in through the office of Residential Life the week of August 14.  Not sure if you are part of an approved group, please reach out directly to the staff or faculty member that coordinates your group.

If you need to move in early as an individual you will be able to apply to arrive on one of the following days August 22, 24 or 25.  The application process will take place from August 7-16.

If you are arriving as part of a group you will be sent an email to sign up for a time on August 14.  If you are arriving as an approved individual, you will be sent an email to sign up for a time on August 17.

Students will receive a sign-up time email that will allow them to sign up for an hour block on the day based on the information above. There is a limit for traffic control on-campus of how many people can come in an hour so not all times are available for all students.

Sign up for Fall Move-In

The first step for Storrs and Stamford students is to sign up for a check-in time slot through MyHousing.  Students will receive a sign-up time email that will allow them to sign up for an hour block on the day based on the information above. There is a limit for traffic control on-campus of how many people can come in an hour so not all times are available for all students.

This email will be sent to students on August 18.

 

Arrival

No matter where you are moving, bring with you:

  • Your UConn ID or photo ID and your student ID/Peoplesoft number
  • A copy of your move-in confirmation email
  • Personal Items (See: Items to Bring)

      Arrival

      • All residents: park at Government Center Garage, 888 Washington Blvd, Stamford, CT. (Directions)
      • Proceed to 900 Washington Blvd, Stamford, CT to check-in.

      Unloading

      • 900 Washington Blvd residents: Stay parked at the Government Center Garage while unloading
      • 65 Prospect Street residents: Use the drop off area adjacent to the residence hall to unload
      • Students have 60 minutes to unload
      • Students are allowed one guest and one vehicle to assist with moving
      • Elevator access is limited and students are required to use stairwells to carry in belongings

      Room Numbers

      • Students assigned to “Stamford Room Number” are placed in 900 Washington Blvd.
        Each room number has 3 digits (ex: 212) and the first number listed is the floor you are assigned to (ex: 212=2ndfloor).
      • Students assigned to “65 Prospect Room Number/Letter” are placed in 65 Prospect.
        Prospect rooms are 1 digit followed by a letter (ex: 7K) and the number listed is the floor you are assigned to (ex: 7K=7thfloor).
      • Students assigned to "the Lillian" are placed in 87 Franklin.
        The first number listed is the floor you are assigned to (ex: 3A=3rdfloor).

      Parking Services

      Any student who has paid for a parking pass for the Stamford Residence Hall will need to follow the move-in instructions and can later move their cars into the Residence Hall parking area. It is important that when purchasing your parking permit to include your on-campus address in order to receive your parking permit quicker. If you do not change your address, the parking pass will be sent to your permanent address. This will delay delivery of your parking permit, which may result in a parking fine.
