Storrs Campus Graduate Housing
Graduate Housing is prioritized for graduate students enrolled at the Storrs campus. There are two Graduate Housing Options:
Northwood Apartments. Northwood is graduate apartments are fully furnished and include a kitchen, small dining area, living room, a bathroom, and two single-occupancy bedrooms. Northwood is considered on campus housing. Additional details, including floor plans and a virtual tour can be found on the Northwood Apartments page.
The Oaks on the Square. The Oaks on the Square is an off-campus housing provider that UConn Residential Life has temporarily partnered with to provide additional university graduate housing options. The Oaks is graduate apartments that are fully furnished and include a kitchen, living room, three bathrooms and three single occupancy bedrooms. The University does not have family housing available for students.
Graduate Housing Contract
Graduate students who accept on-campus housing are financially responsible for room fees for the entire academic year, or the portion of the academic year that remains at the time of occupancy. Residents of The Oaks on the Square are financially responsible for the entire academic year and the extended summer contract. Fall 2024 Housing
Graduate students who wish to live on campus for the Fall2024 semester must email livingoncampus@uconn.edu for application access. Housing is extremely limited and applicants will receive additional updates after submitted an application.

FAQ
How do I apply for graduate housing?
Email into livingoncampus@uconn.edu and request access to the Graduate Housing Application. After granted access, you can apply via your MyHousing portal in the application section.
Is graduate housing guaranteed?
No graduate student is guaranteed housing, but we do prioritize new to UConn graduate students who have not had the opportunity to live on campus before.
When is the application deadline?
There is no application deadline for graduate housing. It is a rolling process that is based on a multitude of factors that includes availability but does not include date of submission.
As a graduate student, can I live in undergraduate housing?
No. Graduate students are not eligible to live in undergraduate housing.
If I am on the waitlist for graduate housing, does that mean I will not get housing?
If you are waitlisted for graduate housing, that means you have a lower chance of being offered graduate housing. Anyone not offered graduate housing to start is encouraged to explore off campus options in the event that you cannot be offered on campus housing.
Can I cancel my graduate housing application if I no longer need housing?
Yes. If you have not already accepted on graduate housing, you can cancel you application at any time. Please email livingoncampus@uconn.edu to request the cancellation application.
After I accept graduate housing, can I cancel my housing and get a refund?
No. After accepting, graduate students can cancel their housing but are still financially responsible for the full length of the contract. For Northwood, that is the academic year. For The Oaks on the Square, that is the academic year and the summer extension contract.
How does parking work for students living at The Oaks on the Square?
The Oaks on the Square has a partnership with the garages and you can purchase a parking pass through them. If you still wish to have an on campus parking pass, you would be purchasing parking as a commuter.
Does the rates include utilities?
Utilities are included in the cost. This includes Wifi.
Is there a price difference between Northwood Apartments and The Oaks on the Square?

Why is there a significant difference in cost between Northwood Apartments and The Oaks on the Square?
This is primarily due to the amenities of the two spaces The Oaks on the Square provides a more modern living environment where you benefit from The Oaks on the Square’s amenities/benefits and can still benefit from the usual amenities of living on campus. Most notably, Northwood Apartments only have one bathroom shared by both students and does not have air conditioning. The Oaks on the Square come with a private bathroom for each resident and has air conditioning.
How does the extended contract work for The Oaks on the Square?
The extended contract allows for students to be guaranteed their housing from August 16th, 2024, through July 31st, 2025. For the typical academic year, the room rate for graduate housing at The Oaks on the Square is rate 8. The summer term beginning in mid-May is billed by week and would total approximately $3696 for the extended portion of the contract.
What apartment occupancy options are there for graduate housing?
Northwood Apartments are 2 bedroom, single occupancy apartments and The Oaks on the Square are 3 bedroom, single occupancy apartments.
How many bathrooms are in each graduate apartment?
Northwood Apartments have 1 bathroom, The Oaks on the Square have 3 bathrooms.
How far are the Oaks on the Square from Campus?
The Oaks on the Square are in downtown Storrs right near Buckley and Shippee Halls. The Oaks on the Square is approximately a 14 minute walk from the UConn Library near the center of Campus.
